Girish Chandra Pal Home, Tarail, Kishoreganj


In 1331 of Bangla year, Girish Chandra Paul bought 18.75% (tin ana) of land lordship form Katalbari landlord of Katol. Currently existing skeletal palace of Tarail in Dhola upozila was built in 1333 Bangla year. 1600 kg of sweets were distributed during the inauguration of this palace, according to the old aged people. Girish Chandra Paul is still being remembered by the people because of his racist and usurious interest rate-money lending characters. It is being told by the people that lower grade Hindu kids were not allowed the primary school in his palace. Also the general people cannot walk with shoes and umbrella in front of his palace

 

 

Inside the palace, he dug pond with beautiful stair for the women and a huge pond was dug in front of the guest house (kachari ghor). There were about 10 to 12 small size tin shed house in east side of the front pond where funeral of his people were took place. At present there are no those small houses.

 

 

: After division of the sub-continent in 1947, he flew away to the Kalkata where his heirs were settled later. The Government acquire their abandoned property (wealth). Currently the activity Dhola union’s land office of the Government is going on in his living palace.

 

 

How to go there:: 15-20 tk fare with easy bike from the circle of Tarail police station.।

Accommodation:: There are no hotel or any accommodation at the Dhola union near the palace. Visitors can halt a night at Tarail or Kishoregonj sadar. So visitors must return form the palace before evening.
